5 out of 5 stars Good tribute to TOS   January 2, 2007
Glenn W. Butler (CT, USA)
I don't understand why people are complaining about the calendar being exclusively TOS-centered. They publish many calendars every year--2006 was the 40th anniversary of TOS, so they dedicated the Ships of the Line calendar to it. As opposed to the people who disapprove of this, it's the entire reason I got it in the first place. In fact, I like many of the images in this calendar so much that I'm going to leave it up into 2007, just to have it on my wall.

3 out of 5 stars Slightly Underwhelmed   March 22, 2006

Compared to previous Ships of the Line calendars, the 2006 calendar has some nice eye candy, but lacks imagination and scope when it comes to showing us TOS from a fresh or unique perspective. Overall, the calendar is worthwhile, but I am hoping for some better images next year.

Was disappointed by the lack of scope on the coverage of ships.

5 out of 5 stars About Time   January 18, 2006

It's great to see the original 1701 and her peers get the spotlight for a change, in brilliantly rendered art from the original series era. There are several shots from familiar episodes (the Fesarius from "The Corbomite Maneuver," Apollo grasping the Enterprise from "Who Mourns for Adonais?", the Enterprise and her dead comrades during M5's rampage in "The Ultimate Computer") and new shots as well. The art is top notch and the scenes well-chosen. There is a mix of CG and painted art (the last shot in particular is a nice painting--though it looks rather inferior compared to the better-rendered CG versions).

To those who complain: it's so rare to see ANYTHING TOS these days, I don't really see that you have any grounds for it. There are plenty of TNG/DS9 calendars, and they've dominated past Ships of the Line outings; this one is for appreciating the real beauty of the fleet--the original 1701. No bloody A, B, C, -or- D.

3 out of 5 stars Where's the rest of the Fleet?   January 6, 2006

This is such a good calender, If you are dwelling in TOS.

I am However like MOST Star Trek Fans are Fans of all the Star Trek Series TNG, DS9, VGR, ENT.

So why isn't there ships from the other series. If you are going to monopolize TOS to only one calender this year, you could at least have another set of calenders with the other series. This (2006) is going to be a very very long year.
