Darker Trek May 28, 2010 D. J. Nardi (Washington, DC) I'm sure it must have been tempting for Jerry Goldsmith to stick to the classic Trek themes in writing the score for Star Trek - First Contact. Fortunately, he was willing to experiment. As a result, Star Trek First Contact: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack [Enhanced CD] is easily the darkest, most original, and best soundtrack of the Trek movies. It has more of an action movie feel - without succumbing totally in that direction. The opening title in particular captures the mix of both wonder and fear. My only regret is that the Borg themes from Star Trek - The Next Generation: Music From The Original Television Soundtrack, Volume Two (The Best Of Both Worlds). Overall though, this is a masterpiece. Also, the Steppenwolf track at the end is a nice bonus.
Best of the Trek Themes September 12, 2009 Bill Ennis (USA) OK, it might be campy to some, but some of the Trek music is really very well done, and I think this one can't be beat.
Nice transaction June 22, 2009 J. Winters (Oregon) This was an excellent purchase, and I was very happy with the seller, would buy from again.

The movie Was Matched with a fantastic soundTrack. the Opening Credits track is Incredibly moving.
A Very Pleasant Contact November 4, 2008 Mr. Richard D. Coreno (Berea, Ohio USA) Jerry Goldsmith delivers a fantastic score, with music that stands alone as a wonderment of soundscapes.
The juxtaposition of the numbers make for a solid delivery, as each build upon the colors already on the canvas. Main Title/Locutus aptly sets the tone, with The Dish, First Contact and End Credits the best of Goldsmith's entries. A neat bonus is Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride and Roy Orbison's Oooby Dooby.
This rates very highly in the Goldsmith catalog of soundtracks and arguably the finest of his work in the Star Trek franchise.
