Great FPS Game!July 2, 2010 Troy Hammerstrom(Central Florida) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having played dozens of MMO titles over the years many fall flat or just plain suck. So far it seems this game has lots to offer and much more on the horizon. As of this review the multi-player world itself is limited but that will change sometime this month. The greatest thing about this game is it has no subscription fees unlike most other large scale multi-player or MMORPG games. It might seem you get what you pay for but of course that does not actually mean you always get more when you pay to much. So no need for anyone on a tight budget not to enjoy a quality and fairly polished game that is Global Agenda.
If you like Sci-Fi Environment's, Guns, Robots and PVP then you will most probably enjoy this game.
Basically, the truth about this game --May 29, 2010 J. B. Fletcher(Cabot Cove) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
EDITED --- 06-25-2010
Well, all I have to say is that Hi-Rez changes things so fast that I can't comment without being wrong. Thanks to the comments, I have re-examined the game and must revise my entire review. I have played the Demo and the game at a friends. He owns the game but did not subscribe. Now subsciptions are completely waived and he has access to all facets of gameplay.
All that exists from a previous 400+ word hammering of the games content and exclusions is below.
- They changed up the maps a bit on PvE and announced more changes to come.
--- The minions are the same but in more suprise locations for better gameplay
--- The bosses are the same but more frequent and in more suprise locations.
--- I should add that the AI is not bad but predictable at times, although you will need a team to win the map.
That is all that is left of the criticism.
With all of the changes and because of the companies positive attitude, I recommend this game to anyone.
About the game:
There are 4 different classes. Assault, Engineer, Recon/sniper, Medic. You can level up Diablo 2 style, skill levels. You can enhance armor and weapons at a crafting bench but if you like you can just go to the market and by speacialty items. The game is fun co-op against the AI but I recommend you get into team based play as a mercenary or join an agency for pvp. They have 5 or 6 different modes of PvP and teams seem well balanced. They have a few other game modes coming soon that should be exciting and keep the gameplay fresh.
I am sure I am missing some things and will update as I explore the game.
Here are the features I enjoyed so far:
- The game promotes a team effort strategy for victory
- Teams seem balanced
- Lower level players can level up quickly
- Lower level players have opportunity to take out the highest level players -with some help of course
- character models are impressive
- Hi-Rez willing to work toward solutions to problems is impressive
To long of a wait for 1.3...May 15, 2010 Alex Vulknur(Seattle) Seeing as how you get a few nifty in game /claimable items with this box. While with steam you get nadda , and with the next update - 1.3/Sandstorm the game will have a much more rewarding style of play for an MMOer that come from games like WoW and EQ2. While still holding on to the gear wont be what all of the endgame is about philosophy. this game is worth buying now to get your PvP rush...not so much if you like crafting, dungeon crawls or exploring vast wilderness...yet! 1.3 should fix a few of those issues(if not all) and with the pace at which they update its not to far off till this is one rocken FPS/RTS MMO.
Fun Game Off To a Slow StartMay 12, 2010 Christopher Wilson By slow start, I mean that the game at release is only a tiny fraction of what it can be. HiRez is working on that and is releasing the 1.3 Sandstorm update in phases to the public test server. HiRez is doing a good job, so far, in listening to their player base via the forums and delivering what their players want. This is a refreshing change from companies like Turbine that do the complete opposite of what their own player base has requested.
The player can choose between four classes: Robotics, Medic, Assault, and Recon. Robotics are good for DPS and if you like to play with a lot of gadgets. Abilities include healing stations, power stations, gun drones, shield walls, and the like. Medics are the straight up healing class, though they can go either healing, poison, or a mix of the two. Even with a Robotics ability to drop a healing station, most four-person teams are going to be totally FUBAR without a Medic. Assault class is exactly what it sounds like and gets the minigun. The Recon class is best if you like sneaking behind enemy lines, destroying the enemy Robotics turret emplacements, destroying enemy respawn points, and sniping. While fun, I found the recon class to be the most difficult to play effecitvely.
Upon creation players enter Dome City. Dome City is where you'll find other players that are not in match as well as shops. Shops include skill upgrades, armor (only visual) upgrades, dye kits for painting your armor, mail in the shipping receiving office, and several others. The 1.3 Sandstorm update includes new shops for each class to upgrade their equipment.
PvE content is currently, as of this writing, limited to Low Security, Medium Security, High Security, and Max Security missions. Obviously, these missions increase in difficulty the higher you go. The missions also have the option of dropping loot that can be used for crafting. Each mission type generally includes several mini-bosses along the way and a main boss at the end that is your mission target. Most of your targets will be androids. However, most of the mini-bosses and a couple of the end bosses are actual Commonwealth agents. One other type of PvE is the "Double-Agent" mission. In Double-Agent, 6 players are grouped together. Two will be randomly selected from that group to do missions for the Commonwealth. If the player refuses, the selection process then goes to another player. In PvE missions, you have a Challenge Bonus. This usually means that you can only have a total number of deaths for the mission. If you complete the mission with the challenge bonus, you will receive credits (money) for completing the mission. With the upcoming 1.3 Sandstorm patch, two new open zones will be included for PvE missions as well.
PvP content currently consists of two basic types. The first type is Mercenary PvP and 4v4 PvP. Mercenary PvP takes a group of 10 players and pits them against another group of 10 players. No loot is dropped, however you make credits (money) whether you win or lose and you get experience. 4v4 PvP is generally for four-person premade teams and is good for small unit skirmishes. The second type of PvP is AvA (also known as Conquest) mode. In AvA, Agencies (known as guilds in other games) and their allies fight other Agencies for control of hexes of land on the global map. There are several maps to choose from and each map has a window of time that it is open each day. During the time that it is open, Agencies can attack and defend their hexes. Battles can be up to 10v10 and you can bring tech to the battle. Common tech includes rocket platforms, gauss cannons, and exoskeleton mechs known as "Vandals" (when you get hit by one, you'll feel like you've been vandalized).
All in all, the PvP portion of the game really shines and the PvE portion is enough currently to be played casually. Character customization options are quite numerous and there have been entire threads based on how to setup skill points for a class. With the new Sandstorm update coming out, I would highly recommend this game.
Not only does the game rock, but the designers are great too!April 22, 2010 Justin H. Shelton 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Global Agenda is great for several reasons. First off I would like to say that I've personally never seen a team thats so devoted to making great content for it's MMO after post production. All the updates and patches have always added something new and exciting. The patch 1.3 aka Sandstorm is going to be off the chain and is to be realeased in a couple days (note that its 04/22/2010 when I made this review). MOST OF THE FEATURES ARE FREE TO PLAY FOREVER EXCEPT FOR ONE THING. (It's impossible for me to cover everything in one review and actually have people read it, so I suggest going to [...] and checking out everything you can.)
There are roughly four types of combat:
PvE: A player joins a que (or with an already created group) and plays with a team totaling four players. The object is to blast your way through mutliple enemys, robotic and cybernetic, to face the final boss. The difficulty of the missions after easy and medium is much more potent and tactics and team communication are REQUIRED for succes. (the game comes with VOIP, but you can type statements too)
PvP: Comes in three different flavors
Agency vs Agency: Player made agencys vie for control of a territory and requires team resource management, diplomacy with other players and various other strategies. (THE ONLY THING YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR WITH A SUBSCRIPTION)
Mercenary: If your don't pay for the subscription then no prob, you can still experience most of the content you get in AvA. When you join this, you are basicaly setting yourself up as a mercenary, and you fight other players in roughly six game play modes which boil down to;Bombing the other guys base, controling an area, defending zones, and escorting resources. All require teamwork to succeed, and this is really were you get paid (in game).
Virtual Arena: If you just feel like testing that weapon you unlocked, or practicing your pvp skills with no consequence, then this is were you go. I must say that you should be wary the first time you are transported in, as noobs will be quickly dispatched lol.
The new 3.1 patch will also include several new gameplay modes plus new weps, armor, and tonnes of other things. But the biggest thing it will offer is a new open world to explore.
