Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Spectrum Holobyte has done a remarkable job of making a distinctive, enjoyable, and even deep adventure from the exploits of Picard and company. With top notch voice acting, multiple narrative paths, various difficulty settings, challenging puzzles, and gorgeous graphics; The Next Generation A Final Unity is subtle and sweeping, bringing in many of the elements that make Star Trek: Judgment Rites such a joy to play. The game opens in the exact fashion as an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation on television (a small touch that makes the game even more immersing). The story begins as the Enterprise finds itself pulled into a dispute between a group of Garidian (friends of the Romulans) political convicts asking for asylum from the Federation and a Garidian warship that is in pursuit. Playing out in an episodic format, the story initially unfolds in the form of several mini-adventures which run the gamut from saving a damaged space station to solving a whodunit mystery on a nature preserve planet. It becomes apparent to Picard and his crew that big trouble is afoot in the galaxy. A race against time begins between the Federation, the Romulans, and the Chodak which is an ancient and once powerful race that has ruled the galaxy almost a million years ago but is now thought to be dead. These political powers are trying to locate an ancient artifact of great power known as the Unity Device. It is up to the Starship Enterprise to determine the secret of this device and prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. The production values of this game are top notch for its time. The film clips are impressive, and a Holodeck feature inside the game allows you to watch cut scenes again and again to your hearts content. The graphics are well drawn, including all the main characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation that have been rendered in almost perfect fidelity compared with their real life counterparts.

4 out of 5 stars Good Game But..   March 18, 2006

This game is very fun to play (Be equipped with a walkthrough..), but this game will not run under XP, it is not a Win95 game, it is an MS-DOS game, Win 95 and 98 users, I suggest that you reboot in MS-DOS mode... Win XP users, find a program calld DOS Box to emulate MS-DOS... Also, this game is very picky, you must have a sound blaster compatible sound card to work...

3 out of 5 stars a little help will be appreciated...   March 1, 2006

Well, the good news. The package arrived in the time span that they said it would. All contents were pristine. The box a little bent (as the seller said it would be)...great shape cosidering the game is over 10 years old.
On the downside, the game was designed for IBM and Windows 95, I couldn't get it to install on XP (dispite the fact that XP could be programmed to run on "95" mode for video games). So far I'm surfing through 'Trek' blogging sites for help.
Anyone who has a clue can email me at kaizen559@hotmail.com. But hey, worst case senerio, I have a pretty cool collectors item...

i've tried several times at least,... it looked fun but it won't work on Win98. It is for Win95 , so maybe it would work on XP where u can choose to install as Win95-- i don't know.

4 out of 5 stars Great, but dated, game!   July 26, 2005

This game is a throwback to the golden age of the adventure game, which seems to all but disappeared in the modern thrall. STTNG:FU's gameplay focuses more on puzzle solving in the context of several connected missions. The story twists and turns and interweaves seeming unrelated plot missions well. The graphics were good for its time, but they are static by today's standards. Good voice acting and sound effects from the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast, including Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, Marina Sertis, Levar Burton, Michael Dorn, and Gates McFadden.
If you are a Star Trek: TNG fan and a fan of the adventure genre, you should really enjoy this game!
