Dr. Mc Coy, He's very sick!January 12, 2004 Black Cat de La Bear(those dark halls) 2 out of 16 found this review helpful
I am reviewing Judgement Rites(though all of the ST game reviews are clumped together) Of all of the Star Trek(and other kinds) of games I have played nothing compares to STJR(Star Trek Judgement Rites) It has excellent dialogue(by ALL of the star trek crew of the 60's series.) It has flight-sim space battles using resources and battle stratedgies and it has on world adventures where you, as Captain James Kirk, act and re-act as do your NPC's in the game. Dialogue choices are endless. Most missions have quirky funny moments with Dr. McCoy and Spock(and Kirk sometimes when iritated with the two of them). This is a game where you put your intelligence and not just your clicking dexterity(phasers on stun-uh I mean Kill!) to the test. No game made to day compares. So what if the graphics are cartoonish, they ain't bad for 1993 when it was released. You get to pilot the Enterprise, visit different planets, and poke fun at Spock, what more could you want? Unfortunately it isn't for sale anymore(what DOS game is?) If you want to run it, try VDM sound or DOS box 6.0.

Windows XP and possable MEJanuary 20, 2003 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
this game won't normally work on Windows XP and possable ME because it was designed for windows 95 but will run on 98 not al whole lot of difference between the 2 except mostly upgraded to except the newer tech at the time but they way XP is set up it won't run properly on XP because it is just reconfigured in numerious ways (thanx Microsoft) so it can better use your computers hardware better well atleast thats what microsoft will say so personally I don't like XP that much have had too much problems between 3Dfx cards and not being able to intergrate an older hard drive into the computer that was using XP
Very classy, very funJuly 7, 2002 Kevin Grogg(Oregon) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this game for 5 bucks at a local retail store and wasn't expecting much but this game is absolutely huge and extremely detailed, not to mention very fun. Some people have mentioned the graphics being dated, but even so they're very detailed and stylized. Sure there are no 3d texture mapped polygons or gratuituous FMVs every three seconds...that's why I liked it! Plus it has all the original cast voices and sound fx which perfectly recreate the feel of the series. A lot of time and care went into this game and it really shines. If you're a Star Trek fan you'll LOVE it, and even if you're not and you just want a fun, old school game to play then definitely check this one out.
bottom line: A lot of fun!May 23, 2002 Black Cat de La Bear(those dark halls) 2 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is probably the only DOS game availible for sale these days and it is a lot more fun than some of the newer "high profile" games out there. Sure, the graphics are early 1991 but the puzzels are just the right amount of challenge without being too easy or hard and the light-hearted humor is what really steals the show. I always looked foreward to the next exiting episode(8 in all). This is a space sim and adventure game rolled up into one.(need more hybrids today) For those of you who can't run the game you need an EMS memory manager and it is better to run it from the windows desktop than in real DOS.(don't use 16 bit CD-ROM drivers it'll ruin your other games) SB soundcards need DOS drivers regardless if you run in windows or in DOS. You need to run setup in the Startrek CD serveral times until you get the sound config that is compatible with your soundcard.
