Authentic Detail and Movie Sounds With this replica, the modelers at Playmates have accurately recreated the 2009 version of the Enterprise to the finest detail. Constructed completely from plastic, it measures a foot in length and is about six inches across. The primary "saucer" area has been sculpted to imitate the contoured surface of the original ship, and features painted windows and insignias. Atop the saucer is the Enterprise's bridge, which lights up with the push of a button. The ship's deflector and warp engine nacelles also light up and blink with a blue glow.
Upon pressing the button, you'll also be treated to sound effects taken straight from the movie. You'll hear the engine roar and the Bussard collectors whirring. The replica even plays back real dialogue between Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto).
Explore the Final Frontier -- From Your Office Desk The Enterprise comes with a unique, ice-blue display stand that will easily fit on a desk. It attaches to the replica using a ball bearing, allowing you to angle and position the ship as you please.
It should be noted that this replica is based on the movie, and is not based on the classic NCC-1701 design from the original Star Trek series. The Enterprise was reinvented for the latest movie and features an updated, more modern look. The primary hull of the original ship has been "smoothed out" for a sleeker, streamlined shape. Still, this is the ideal model for any serious fan of the 2009 movie.

Star Trek - USS Enterprise - Iconic VehicleJuly 25, 2010 KEN TELLS ALL(NYC) Very nice replica of new movie Enterprise. The metal recessed screws that hold it together are visible but does not detract from the way it looks! Sturdy, blue bright lights, clear sounds. Cost me $12.99 + NY sales tax - Very economical since these ships are usually very overpriced! Does not come with the 3AA batteries necessary to run it. But because of the low price it does not matter. NOTE: There are 2 battery compartments. 1 under the lower body - holds 2 batteries and 1 under the saucer - holds 1 battery!
Star Trek - USS Enterprise Iconic VehicleJune 16, 2010 P. S. Kiesling(South Carolina, USA) A nice model of the new Enterprise from ST: XI. The color is a little odd for it, but it looks all right. A good addition to my collection of Enterprises.
Good Enterprise model, but why the voices?May 28, 2010 D. J. Nardi(Washington, DC) I've been a fan of the Star Trek playmates series since I started collecting them as a kid. The Enterprise from the new Star Trek movie is pretty good. I think the size is just about right - at 15 inches, it's average for the Star Trek ships. The sculpting/paint job isn't superb, but it's pretty good - especially for the price! My only complaint is that wen you press the buttons, the sounds are a bunch of voices from the movie. I prefer the way the older ships had separate buttons for ship sound effects, like phasers and impulse drive. The sounds are just cheesy. I can't press the button to light up the ship without laughing. Hopefully, Playmates will go back to its former approach and include several options for lighting the ship up and better sound effects.
Great, detailed shipMay 18, 2010 Alex Mann(Houston, TX) Pros: High detail, good quality for the price, nice lights and sounds, swivel stand keeps balance with ship in any position
Cons: Disappointing limit of sounds and effects compared to the original series counterparts available.
Compared to the other availiable ships from the original series era, this ship only has one button and one has to cycle through different sounds, while the other ship i have has several buttons with specific effects. Swivel stand very good, very detailed textures and paint. Overall a very good buy

My son-in-law is an avid Star Trek fan and when I found this I immediately thought of him. This was part of his Christmas and it now has it's own shelf in his office. He said when he's stressed or just needs an uplift, he presses the button and gets the sounds of the ship "warping" off into space. It was a success and a pleaser. Guess that means I'll get to "live long and prosper" a while longer in the mother-in-law slot.
